Personnel Information

William (Bill) Brassfield, Chief Executive Officer and Majority Shareholder

Bill joined his father and brother in 1998 and has served as CEO since 2002. Bill has over 27 years of experience working in the insurance industry. He began his insurance career with Allstate Insurance Company in 1988.

Dale Brassfield, President and Majority Shareholder

Dale joined his father, Jim Brassfield, founder of Pacesetter Claims Service, Inc. in 1997 and has served as President since 2008. Dale attended Shasta College and received an Associate’s Degree in Business Management. He has over 28 years of experience in the construction and insurance business. Dale currently resides and oversees our Florida office location and is personally involved with our contracted clients in Florida.

Barry Coleman, AVP of Operations

Barry owned and operated an insurance agency and claims adjusting company in Texas before becoming a CAT adjuster in 1992. Barry has worked multi-line claims in all major events prior to joining PCS in 1998.

Jim Shrewsbury, Executive Vice President

Jim began his insurance career with State Farm in 1987 as an adjuster. A few years later he started his own independent adjusting company and then joined Pacesetter in 2002. As the Executive VP, he oversees a large portion of Operations, as well as Sales and Account Management. Education includes, a B.A. from Washburn University in History and Political Science with a minor in Economics.

Dedicated Finance Professional with 15 years of experience in Corporate Finance, Investment Banking and Private Equity. Provided financial leadership at two middle market companies with over $30 million in revenue. Consistently recognized for ability to streamline operations, improve financial reporting, implement financial controls and increase productivity. Financial advisory experience includes mergers, acquisitions and capital raises.

Annie Hazzard, Director of Human Resources

Annie joined Pacesetter in 2008. She has over 25 years of experience as a Human Resource Manager. Her experience includes managing HR departments, Employee Benefit Administration, Risk Management, Safety Coordinator, Policy Development, Training Coordinator, oversight of company employment procedures to ensure State and Federal regulations are being met. Education includes undergraduate studies at Wesleyan University in HR and Business Management and a PHR Certification.

Jill Backs, AVP of Accounts

Jill Backs graduated from Northern Arizona University in 2003 with a BS in Business Administration with a major in Computer Information Systems. She began her insurance career in 2001 in California writing mold estimates for independent adjusters. 2005 was Jill’s first deployment with Pacesetter Claims Service. While working independently with Pacesetters, she also handled daily claims for liability, property, trucking and auto accidents all around northern AZ. In 2011, Pacesetters hired Jill as an Operation Specialist, then she became a Storm Claims Manager in 2014. Currently she holds the position of AVP of Accounts and helps with marketing and operation support during events.

Lori Bergman, Litigation/Compliance Manager

Lori joined Pacesetter in 2015. She has over 20 years of experience in the insurance and legal industry. She began her insurance career in 1996 with Allstate & Farmers. Her experience includes: Paralegal, Adjusting and Managing 1st & 3rd party Liability, Casualty, Property, Litigated Claims, Mediations and Arbitrations. Education includes Associate Degree as a Paralegal/LA, undergraduate studies at OU in Business Management and Liberal Studies, and an Insurance Designation of Legal Principals Claim Specialist from AEI.

Valerie Matthew, Account Manager

Valerie started working for Citizens as an IA in 2005 just after Wilma hit Florida. Since that time, she has worked for Citizens in just about every department there is including CAT Ops, CAT Supplements, Appraisal, Daily Claims, QA/Training, and Large Loss. Valerie decided to go staff with Citizens in 2009 where she assumed a number of different roles such as Large Loss Specialist, QA File Auditor, Team Lead, Trainer and whatever else they needed her to do. After 3 years of being Citizens staff, Valerie realized she preferred and missed the Independent side of the business and returned to IA world spending almost 6 years in Claims Management handling the Citizens Account among other carrier accounts for her previous employer. In September of last year, she made the transition to Pacesetter Claims Services where she continues to work on the Citizens account. Valerie is very happy with her decision to join such a top notch organization.

Pat joined Pacesetter Claims Service in 2002. He has over 35 years of experience working in the insurance industry. Pat began his IA career with Crawford & Company in 1979.

Ray Bryan, General Manager

Ray joined Pacesetter in 2018. He began his insurance career with State Farm in 1986 as an adjuster. He is experienced in Adjusting and Supervising Catastrophe Property Claims, Auto, Flood, and Fire claims. He is further accomplished in areas of Operations and Administrative Management, Customer Service Relations and as a Business Analyst. Prior to his insurance career, he served in the military with the U.S. Airforce. Education includes a BS from the University of Southern Mississippi in Political Science and AIC, AIS, AIM, AIT insurance designations.

Maureen Sanders, Accounting Manager

Maureen began her accounting career in 2002 working as a bookkeeper and accounting assistant for multiple large companies. She joined Pacesetter in 2015 and manages the daily accounting operations. Her experience includes: managing audits, accounting operations, payroll processing, credit and collections, tax preparations, end of year reconciliation and W2/1099 annual processing. Education includes: Certified Bookkeeper in 2012 and an A.A.S. in Accounting from National American University.

Cesar Sanchez, AVP Business Development

Cesar began is insurance career with Pacesetter Claims Service in 2002. In 2009 Cesar accepted a position with Liberty Mutual Insurance/SAFECO where he advanced his claim knowledge and as an adjuster and supervisor working CAT to Large Loss Complex claims, Commercial claims and QA. In 2015 he returned to Pacesetter Claims Service and currently holds the position of AVP of Business Development where he oversees multiple client accounts. Education includes a BA in Business Marketing & Political Science with a Minor in Criminal Justice from Tarleton State University.
