John M. Beringer Jr. established B&A in January 2000. Positions include CEO/President of Plexus Total Risk Management, Inc.; Licensed Director of two SPC captives, Creative Solutions SPC and Plexus SPC; and served clients with the formation of JPJ Reinsurance SPC and AB Lexman SPC. In 2012, Mr. Beringer designed/wrote an insurance policy approved by the Oklahoma Department of Insurance for domestic and international commodity transactions.
Mr. Beringer held the position of JPA Liability Program Manager for ICRMA and BICEP for litigation associated with Inverse Condemnation, Civil Rights (including police liability of excessive force), FEHA and Dangerous Condition. He holds an LPCS, an RPA and is acknowledged insurance, Captive and risk expert by Forensis and Gerson Lehrman; and he is a founding member of the Council on Litigation Management. He is a graduate of the Small Business Administration's BOSS program, and B&A is acknowledged in five successive years by the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce for B&A's expertise, quality of service and professionalism.
During his 19 years since opening B&A, he served clients with significant case handling for exposures in excess of client's self- insured retention through reinsurance's attachment to $30.0 million in the United States and international venues. He was engaged by AIG and Sterling Insurance Company for carrier review preceding the attachment of E&O, and for analysis of reinsurance attachment for Municipal and business self-assumed the risk.
Previous to the formation of B&A in 2000, he was employed by Specialty Risk Services directing litigation on behalf of Twin City Fire Insurance Company and Hartford Fire Insurance Company. Employment in the insurance carrier industry started in 1969 working for the Automobile Club of Southern California, Industrial Indemnity, Great American and Western International Insurance Company.
While the specific list of clients is confidential, the clientele included Fortune 500 companies, various municipalities in California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and Arizona, and individually owned companies. Well over 30,000 litigated cases were resolved by the efforts of Mr. Beringer in his professional capacities.
Mr. Beringer has worked with clients in the reinsurance, self insurance and insurance contract venues perfecting coverage from primary, reinsurance and excess policies, Errors and Omissions, Workers' Compensation, General Liability, Tax Practitioners and professional services contracts. He holds an appointment with the Chinese government's Ministry of Inland Marine, and a personal commendation from the CEO/President of The Hartford.

Mr. Beringer worked in the insurance industry for 30 plus years as a Litigation Manager for various insurance carriers, including Specialty Risk Services (Hartford), Industrial Indemnity, Great American and Western International. For the past 12 plus years, as Principal of B&A, B&A has been engaged by American Insurance Group, Swiss RE and Sterling Insurance Company for carrier review preceding the attachment of E&O and/or reinsurance attachment; by Atlantic Surety & Indemnity for reinsurance/policy analysis; A.B. Lexman SPC for formation of reinsurance and program presentation to Regulators and JPJ Reinsurance SPC for a commodity transfer reinsurance program. In 2000 B&A was requested to assist with the Reliance Insurance Company's run off for their self-insured and large deductible programs, including trucking, airlines and other various risks. Mr. Beringer was also engaged by Plexi Insurance Services, an insurance brokerage, for support of underwriting submissions for Workers' Compensation and other risks.
