Robert B. Lueck

Mr. Lueck has been a member of the California State Bar since 1978, where his practice has focused on the defense of civil litigation involving claims for bodily injury and property damage, with associated insurance and indemnity disputes. His practice has emphasized all manner of construction-related litigation, although it has also included liability insurance coverage and insurance coverage litigation, bodily injury claims arising from premises liability and product liability, as well as the defense of public entities. Mr. Lueck practices before all of the California State Courts, and is also admitted to practice before the Northern District, Eastern District and Central District Federal Courts, as well as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Lueck handles cases from Kern County northward to the Oregon border. Mr. Lueck has significant trial experience in both State and Federal Courts, and has presented cases to the California Court of Appeal and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Lueck has served as a Mediator and Special Master, and has assisted various local courts as a settlement neutral. He has also lectured for the California CEB Program.


Mr. Lueck joined Boornazian, Jensen & Garthe in 1978 as an associate attorney, and has been a shareholder with the firm since 1985. Mr. Lueck is the senior member of Boornazian, Jensen & Garthe’s construction practice group and is Managing Partner/President of the firm.

Alan E. Swerdlow

Alan Swerdlow represents insurance companies in connection with complex coverage and bad faith claims. Mr. Swerdlow provides counsel to those companies regarding their rights and responsibilities, and serves as trial counsel in coverage and bad faith actions. Mr. Swerdlow also represents Public Entities in connection with their insurance matters including analysis and representation regarding pooling agreements and Memorandums of Coverage. Mr. Swerdlow assists carriers in drafting policies, endorsements and establishing methodologies for handling complex claims. He is statewide and national coverage counsel for insurers and risk financing entities for both litigation and non-litigation services. Thomas E. Mulvihill

Mr. Mulvihill is the firm’s Vice President. His thirty year career has been devoted to the practice of insurance law, including coverage and bad faith litigation, first and third party coverage analysis, monitoring counsel, the drafting of policy forms and endorsements, and claims auditing., Mr. Mulvihill has represented international and domestic insurers in more than eight hundred matters at the federal and state trial court level and has represented insurers before the California Supreme Court, the United States Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the California Court of Appeal. Christopher E. Brumfiel

Mr. Brumfiel’s practice focuses on the aggressive defense of companies involved in a variety of industries including multi-family residential housing, youth sports, commercial property management, hospitality and entertainment, transportation, and construction. Recent representative actions include the defense of a national youth sports organization in chronic traumatic encephalopathy litigation, the defense of a property management company in the Berkeley balcony collapse litigation, the defense of significant bodily injury and construction defect claims arising out of large-scale public and private development projects including the City of Emeryville Redevelopment Project, the University of California – Santa Cruz, San Francisco State University, Santana Row, and the San Francisco Olympic Club, as well as the defense of Century Theatres in multiple premises liability actions, including wrongful death. Jeffrey A. Chadic

Mr. Chadic has been a member of the State Bar of California since 1998. With over 150 days of trial experience defending and prosecuting civil cases, Mr. Chadic has substantial experience in all phases of litigation up through trial and appeal. His current civil litigation practice primarily focuses on the defense of general contractors in construction defect defense matters, particularly involving high-end, custom single-family houses. He also represents businesses, including contractors and other business owners, in disputes, and assists them with the preparation of contracts, subcontracts, leases and other transactional and business documents. In addition, Mr. Chadic possesses considerable expertise in litigating surety bond disputes on public and private works, and surety and fidelity bonds in other commercial contexts.

Emmett E. Seltzer

Mr. Seltzer represents general contractors, subcontractors and developers in complex civil litigation. Additionally, he has handled personal injury, landlord-tenant, and insurance coverage litigation. Prior to joining Boornazian, Jensen & Garthe in 2005, Mr. Seltzer practiced at a Bay Area firm where he handled toxic torts litigation, personal injury litigation, wills and trusts and estate litigation. Tamiko A. Dunham

Ms. Dunham has been a member of the State Bar of California since 2004.
