The Plato Law Firm has decades of experience in municipal, construction, insurance defense and employment law. The firm's founder, Ed Plato was previously a partner in a large insurance defense firm. He has had the privilege of representing and defending municipalities, contractors, engineers, insurance companies and employers for over 35 years. The Plato Law Firm presently serves as City/Township Attorney and as liability defense counsel for several municipalities in Southeastern Michigan. Mr. Plato also has successfully represented over 30 different contractors and engineering firms, either directly or through their insurance carriers, in all aspects of construction litigation involving commercial, public construction and residential projects. Mr. Plato has been the general liability counsel for Dan's Excavating, Inc., Michigan's major highway contractor, for over 30 years.

The Plato Law Firm has extensive legal resources and experience to draw upon, including contract attorneys working with the Firm (most of whom have over 25 years of experience in providing legal services to public and private entities), as well as outside experts in the areas of accident reconstruction, engineering, auditing, assessing, public utilities, real estate, and other areas where specialized expertise may be needed. In addition to the firms full time professionals, the Firm also has readily available 8 attorneys on a contract basis to provide a full spectrum of legal counsel services to its clients. Why does the firm use contract attorneys? Because having attorneys available on a contract basis minimizes the cost of providing legal services to clients as the Firm does not have to pay for overhead or other benefits for those attorneys which, otherwise, would result in increasing the cost of providing legal services. Therefore, The Plato Law Firm is able to pass these savings on to its clients and does not need to be concerned about "minimum monthly billings" for attorneys such as those required by most other firms.
